On October 27th, 2016, Eddie Kaspbrak dies in a hospital room surrounded by his loved ones.
On November 1st, he comes back to life.
But this version of Eddie isn't the same, and Richie is forced to reconcile the grief of losing his best friend with the feelings he's slowly developing for this new Eddie.

His therapist would say that ‘relationships aren’t chess games you can plan down to the last attack or countermeasure’. That he should ‘just communicate’ with his partner when he’s experiencing doubt, instead of ‘prematurely ascribing blame and jumping to baseless conclusions’.
And Eddie would nod along and dutifully summarize her advice in point form in his therapy journal. And then, he would calmly close that journal and open another journal with a blocky header scratched so deep into the paper that it’s almost torn, and that header would read: “REASONS WHY RICHIE IS BEING FUCKING WEIRD AND DEFINITELY KEEPING SECRETS (UNSHAKEABLE PROOF)”. And there would be, let’s just say, more than a few pages filled in. Margins and all.

Summary
He knows that Frankie is incredibly intelligent and perceptive; Frankie knows better than almost anyone that no, Eddie is not okay, not in the slightest, but Frankie is also not even fourteen yet, and if there’s one thing that Eddie doesn’t want, is for his teenage son to have to bare the brunt of Eddie’s trauma and emotions.
You know you can let him in, Richie’s told him a hundred times, and Eddie knows that, of course he does, but right now, in the middle of the hallway of Frankie’s school with Myra just down the hall, Eddie doesn’t feel like he can.
“You don’t have to worry about me,” Eddie finally tells his son, watching as Frankie clenches his jaw, eyes narrowing. “It’s my job to worry about you, not the other way around.”
He says it with just the barest hint of humor, trying to make his son laugh a little or shake his head affectionately, but Frankie simply just stares at him.
“Fine,” his son finally says, “If that’s what you want.”

Summary
The Losers managed to get Eddie out alive, but they're not out of the woods yet. Between hospital woes and the very reasonable questions coming from everyone's spouses, they have a lot to figure out. At the same time, it begins to set in that while they could save Eddie, they can't go back and save Stan.
Together, the Losers learn how to stay brave, lean on each other, and cope with the loss of their friend, feat: messy apologies, late-night calls, heart-to-hearts, a hotel slumber party, bad puns, a first date, and a new puppy.

The room is not big, but it's not small either. It doesn't look much like an office except for the crammed in desks and typewriters. The floor is wood, stained dark. Light streams in through a barely-open window, lending all of the brown a forgiving sheen of gold. The rain must have stopped.
Several of the desks are overfilled with knick-knacks and books, definitely not in a suitable state to work at. Behind one of these, a man sits with his feet on top of the table and its contents, ankles crossed. If Eddie had to make a guess he'd say he's around Eddie's own age. White, with dark hair. He's wearing glasses.
Bingo. This is his man.

Frankie looks down at his shirt, where PROUD SON is brandished across his chest; he smiles, looking over at his father and Richie again and thinking yeah, i am really proud of both of them.
“Excuse me,” Frankie says as he gets the attention of a random passerby. He waves Dad and Richie over, gesturing for them to take the girls out and hold them as he turns back to the stranger and continues, “Would you be able to take a picture of me with my dads?”
Frankie makes his way back over, flicking Richie’s cheek when he sees the look on his stepfather’s gaze and - with a smug feeling at the realization that now, he’s not that much shorter than his father and will hopefully be taller than him very soon - settles between both of his fathers, Charlie in Richie’s arms and Phoebe in Dad’s, making sure that his shirt is in full view as he grins at the camera.

He’d been so worried up until Richie met Frankie; Eddie had been a bundle of nerves for the week leading up to it, terrified of how it’d go, if Frankie would be okay with it, if he and Richie would get along.
And then, just like that, as Richie began talking to Frankie - and to him, not at Eddie and waiting for Eddie to translate, like pretty much every other person had always done once they realized that Frankie is Deaf - Eddie began to see his son relax. Frankie began to talk to him a little more, joke with him more. Frankie’s always been a character, sure, but the reservedness that Eddie had observed in his son during the divorce began to melt away the more he got to know Richie.
“I think you saved me and Frankie,” Eddie finally says, and as soon as he says it, he knows that it’s true.

Although co-parenting hasn't been exactly easy, Eddie's thankful that he at least has a husband who cares so much about his son.

Summary
But Dad looks sad again, and Frankie doesn’t have to wonder what he’s thinking: that he couldn’t do more, that he knows, better than any of the Losers or Richie could ever guess, how shitty Frankie’s Thanksgiving actually was. Dad knows all of the people there, remembers the way Mom’s family is.
Frankie can see the guilt in Dad’s eyes, and half of him feels an odd sense of vindication about it - good, because it’s not fair that you divorced mom and i have to go there alone - and a conflicting sense of despair, knowing that Dad is trying the best he can, that there really isn’t anything he can do in this situation at all.
