By autumn, there's a green-and-silver tie where a scarlet one should be, a school full of snakes who've never heard the real story, and a boy who mentions basilisks and graveyards like the weather. Everyone is watching Harry. No one is asking the right questions.

Summary
Harry is tired.
The war is over, Voldemort is dead, and now everyone has expectations for Harry’s future.
Harry doesn’t want any of them.
So, rather than go back to Hogwarts to finish his education, become an Auror and marry Ginny, he goes travelling.
After years away, Britain no longer feels like home.
So Harry finds a new one.
The Elysian Isles are born.
Or
Harry gets sick of everyone telling him what to do, so he ditches Britain to travel the world, learns an absurd amount of magic, gains a bunch of new pets (and children — seriously, where do all these children keep coming from?), falls in love with life, and accidentally founds a magical island nation.

Summary
Just like the many amazing Slytherin Harry Potter fics, this is my take on what would happen if Harry Potter was just a little bit smarter, a little bit crueler, and acted a little bit more like the Slytherin we knew he could be.
Takes inspiration from too many stories to count, but includes tropes like Slytherin Harry, awesome goblins, Dumbledore bashing, and Harry destroying any machinations laid out for him simply by existing and giving things a second thought. He refuses to be anybody's puppet.
After Harry was introduced to the wizarding world, some red flags were raised and questions left unanswered, so he decided to ditch his babysitter and return to Diagon Alley unsupervised. Harry returned to the bank and found that Dumbledore had been manipulating everything from behind the scenes. Eager to leave the Dursleys behind, Hadrian - he learned his name was - will do whatever it takes to get out from under Dumbledore's thumb, even if it means walking a darker path than expected of the Wizarding world's Savior.

Summary
Harry is street-wise and cunning, he trusts no one and has learned the hard way how to avoid a beating and stay alive. When his Hogwarts letter arrives he is naturally suspicious but Harry is a survivor and he is keen to get out of his Uncles house. He knows he is probably being manipulated but decides Hogwarts is a risk worth taking, however, he is going to do it on his own terms.
An unlikely ally points him in the direction of his mother's best friend and Harry finds that while some people are undoubtedly out to manipulate him his Housemates and his Head of House have his back.
