Summary
Two months. Two months since everything went wrong. Since Jinx had jinxed it all again. Two months since something that wasn’t supposed to explode exploded and killed Silco and nearly killed Caitlyn Kiramman.
Two months since Vi made Jinx haul her Piltie girlfriend’s mangled corpse to the same man that had flooded her body with shimmer.
Two months since she watched Singed turn Caitlyn into a monster.
Jinx's tea party goes horribly wrong. At Vi's behest, a nearly dead Caitlyn is taken to Singed. Using leftovers from his work on Vander, he builds a beast that is far more advanced than Warwick. Caitlyn wakes up in an unfamiliar body, bound by the whims of her new animal instincts and the chemtech machinery that's keeping her alive.

“Am I correct in assuming that your new outlook on life isn’t agreeing with you, Miss Kiramman?”
She winced. “Tell me what you’ve done to me. Now.”
“If you must know the details, I’ve injected you with a new variant of shimmer that I developed. It’s a particularly potent mix, capable of healing life-threatening wounds.”
“I got that, just…” Caitlyn winced again and pressed a hand to her forehead. She was so angry that she could hardly think straight. “How long does it last?”
He laughed, and this time it seemed genuine.
“Oh, Miss Kiramman. It lasts forever.”
Caitlyn is caught in the blast when Jinx's firelight bombs go off on the bridge. She winds up in Singed's lab, where he has a rare moment of compassion and decides to save her life, just as he saved Jinx. With shimmer coursing through her veins, Caitlyn falls from Piltovan grace and into the arms of the only person who can understand what has happened to her.

-ABSTRACT-
Throughout the history of the study of how organisms are related to each other, there have been many discoveries of great importance to humanity’s understanding of life and Earth. Among some of these key discoveries are Darles Charwin’s theory of speciation, Leigh van Huke’s breakthrough studies of microscopic organisms, and the more recent emergence of endosymbiotic theory and molecular phylogeny. As is often the case in science, currently-accepted information for phylogeny is a constantly changing mire of hypotheses, theories, articles, and text. Due to this shifting nature, however, it is known and documented that people outside of academia develop misconceptions based on whatever was taught to them as young people, regardless of the current validity of the information or whether it was even valid in that time. This is through no fault of the individuals in question, nor of overworked primary school teachers, but these misconceptions pervade public knowledge to the point that even educational material can contain misinformation on the subject.Bookmarked by Nerdywolfie
