Summary
Verso waits to see the death of this man.
He has seen countless expeditioners die. This one will be no different; it pains him, like all do (and if something can be said about Verso, it’s that he feels, he feels too much, even), but.
Sadly, Verso needs that connection severed. He needs Maëlle to question everything, first, and willing to lose whatever she has left, after. So. He needs the pillar that this man is removed.
Losing him afterwards will only make everything so, so much harder. For everyone. Himself included. They can’t afford that.

After Maelle takes over the canvas, Verso struggles to find meaning in the new Lumière. At least, until Gustave offers him to participate in a project together. Slowly, Verso starts to see the man he left to die in a different light, as he also struggles with the guilt of knowing that he's slowly falling in love with him.
