Summary

“I’m not angry,” Steve clarifies.
“Sure you ain’t, kid.”
“Don’t call me that.”
Steve’s frowning, brows furrowed and mouth tight, and Jesus fucking Christ, Bucky is the teacher here. He should be the one pulling a disappointed face that could make grown men cry.
There’s a brief stalemate, but Steve’s the one who gives in, face softening into an expression that hurts more than the disappointment.
“I meant it,” he says, reaching for Bucky, and Bucky should flinch away but doesn’t. Steve’s fingertips trail down the side of his face, whisper-soft and reverent. “I just missed you.”
“You shouldn’t,” Bucky says just as quietly. “There’re other people, Steve. People your age. Think I don’t see the kids making eyes at you?”
“You jealous?” Steve asks, and it’s clearly a joke, but Bucky doesn’t much feel like smiling. Maybe Steve takes that the wrong way because he says, “You don’t gotta be. I’ve only got eyes for you.”
