Summary
When Danny Fenton dies in his parents’ lab, he doesn’t know it then, but he will be fated to a much greater title than Phantom in time. That gateway between the limbo of the soul, the ultimate act of balance, the duality of man; the guide, the light, the end.
Death.
He finds himself in many places, in the years that are and the years that aren’t—inhabiting every corner of every universe—but one, more than any other, begins to catch his eye.
One family, in particular, he meets often. And he cannot help the tragedy, but he can at least make the crossover gentle.
(Or: A fourteen-year-old boy named Death, and a family (past and future) named the Waynes.)

Prompt courtesy of Stealingyourbones on tumblr: Jason gets his neck sliced by Bruce’s batarang. It irreversibly damaged his vocal cords.
Pros: He can still use ghost speak
Cons: None of his family knows ghost speak (as it’s sounds aren’t for living men to understand)
Thankfully Jason meets Danny Fenton who not only understands ghost speak but can teach him how to live again after his accident.

Summary
Danny would like to say for the record that it was not his fault.
In fact, Danny would say that it was entirely Clockwork's fault. After all, he wouldn't even be in this situation if it wasn't for that cryptic time god.
But what was his fault was the fact that he kept helping.
He kept taking the cash from the assholes messing with the residents who lived in the area (and damn there were a lot of assholes near where he lived). He kept accepting their offers of food. So because of this new routine that kept him able to afford to rent out his shitty (and possibly illegal) apartment and the hunger pangs sufficiently satisfied, rumors grew.
tldr; after Clockwork dropped of Danny in Gotham he tries to make the best out of the situation which includes helping out some people. Except along the way that led to rumors that he was an up-and-coming crime boss. A rumor he was largely unaware of.
