Summary
Stede is ready to 'get back out there' after his divorce, but he's more than a little bit intimidated by the concept of online dating. After a series of truly terrible first dates, he's close to giving up on love altogether. Perhaps he's too old for all this Grindr nonsense.
And then, along comes a bartender called Edward Teach.

Summary
He threads his way toward the refreshment table, thinking the punch actually does look rather good. There’s someone in front of it, their back turned on the party – someone with familiar gold curls. Edward clears his throat and the man spins round, his cheeks flushing as though he’s been caught doing something untoward.
“Well – hello!” he says a little breathlessly and Ed is grateful for his knee brace, because he thinks he may have buckled otherwise. “I don’t think we’ve met. I’m Stede Bonnet, otherwise known as the groom. How d’you do?”
“I’m Edward – Edward Teach,” he replies, shaking Stede’s outstretched hand. His skin is soft and Ed feels a little self-conscious about his own callused and rough palms, but the greeting is over before he knows it, and he searches for the next thing to say. “Otherwise known as the florist.”

Summary
Stede Bonnet is a recently divorced, mild-mannered English teacher with a passion for literature and a tendency to overthink. After relocating from Auckland to Wellington in search of a fresh start, he begins receiving anonymous text messages meant for someone’s long-lost love.
At first, he’s hesitant to reply, worried that reaching out might ruin the mystery and scare off the sender. But he eventually finds himself texting with Ed Teach, a brooding theatre technician whose presence turns Stede’s quiet new life upside down.
As their connection deepens, Stede finds himself rethinking everything: his love life, his career, and even his growing friendship with Lucius, a fellow teacher facing marital struggles of his own.

Summary
“You live in LA?” Stede asked, and Ed stiffened a bit next to him. Stede chuckled softly. “It’s a big place, Ed. Tonight’s just tonight.”
Ed was silent as they stepped into the elevator, and he let out a long breath once the doors slid shut on the two of them. “I like you,” he said, his eyes on Stede’s in the mirrored door. “It’s just…my life….”
Stede reached out and took his hand, giving it a light squeeze, then tugged until they were facing each other. “Tonight’s just tonight,” he said again, lifting his free hand to cup Ed’s cheek and letting his eyes drop to Ed’s mouth. “We can handle that.”
“Yeah,” Ed breathed. He leaned in and let his nose brush Stede’s, his breath a tease against Stede’s lips.

Summary
When Prince Stede Bonnet saw his betrothed for the first time, he very nearly blushed.
Edward Teach was a fearsome thing: pirate turned warlord, scourge of the continent. He wore black armor and bristled with weapons, including his famous sword, the Queen’s Revenge. The notorious beard which had earned him his nickname was gray now, but still full and menacing. They were almost of a height, but Stede felt dreadfully small in his presence.
Blackbeard had taken one look at Stede and grunted his approval. And Stede had almost blushed.
