That had always been De Sardet’s particular kind of magic. He had been like a bonfire, always burning higher and higher, until he threatened to burn down the world, and himself with it. Being a Naut, one would have thought Vasco would have feared fire. But with De Sardet, he had learnt to withstand the pain. In the end, it was always worth it.
De Sardet is named the new Governor of Teer Fradee, and Vasco is too terrified to stay. But not even the sea can keep him from missing De Sardet.
