Imogen de Rolo, the second eldest of Vex’ahlia and Percival de Rolo, is the first of her siblings to fly the nest. There’s no checklist of things to achieve, beyond looking further into the purple lightning that cracks her skin, but it would go as follows if she did:
Meet her best friend. Find their own kind of family in the second strangest group of people she’s ever seen. Change the way she thinks about herself. Fall in love with her best friend.
Confront her family’s trauma. Throw some of it back in their faces.

Laudna grabs her hands and guides her to bed. Imogen follows dutifully. "Then I'll take you up on that. I need you, my dear." Her voice is sweet and pleasant. "More than you know."
Imogen lays wrapped in Laudna’s embrace in a bed that feels more comfortable than she’s used to. The exhaustion comes instantly. She sleeps.
She sleeps and she dreams.

A thin veil exists between dreams and reality. Laudna's resurrection sparks wonderful and unforeseen repercussions which blur that veil. One of which severs an old tether and fosters a new one. Spoilers for C3! Also no one is actually dead in here despite the heavy angst!WHAT IF: There was a moment when the tides turn, when things fall apart, and Laudna is nowhere to be found. The group assumes she's dead, gone somewhere under the rubble and ash, but Imogen knows better. She knows that Laudna is alive as much as she knows she herself lives and breathes, waiting for her to bring her home, and by all the gods and all the devils, she's going to find her and do so.
Isn't it lovely to love someone so wholly and completely you would leave all you've built to find and bring them home with you where they belong?

Imogen is content being single and on her own. Things are easier that way. Any attempts at dating in the past have never gone well and it's not worth the potential heartache. But when her friend Ashton asks her to do him a favor and go on a double date with a woman he met and her friend, Imogen begrudgingly goes along. And Laudna seems alright, fun even. But Imogen isn't looking for anything, she's not.
