    Sky has no idea what he’s supposed to be looking at. It’s all a bunch of black and white whorls morphing into more shapeless blobs.

    It takes a couple of minutes of agonizing silence before Kaew finds anything, and they’re alerted by the sound she makes. “We’ve got a heartbeat,” she announces.

    Wonderful. Sky’s is currently in his throat. Prapai squeezes his hand and the pressure of that is what he focuses on to ground himself to this moment. “Oh,” he says softly.

    Pregnancy is a journey and Sky is going through it.

    “My Sky,” Prapai breathes, his body relaxing, sinking into Sky like he wants them to become one. “That’s the easiest thing in the world for me to do.”

    (Prapai leaves, for several months, for a business merger. Sky pierces his nipples. It sounds simple, but it means the whole world to the two of them.)
