Summary
In hindsight, it should have been obvious. The way Rumi refused to go to the bathhouse, her bizarre relationship with Celine, this whole thing with the Saja Boys? Mira prided herself on reading people, and she felt stupid for not seeing it sooner. The pieces were all there, just waiting to be put together.
Rumi was gay.
The night after the joint signing with the Saja Boys, Mira went to confront Rumi about her ongoing weird behavior. Instead of letting hurt feelings drive the conversation, Mira took a minute to try and figure out what might be wrong. Unfortunately, she came to the completely wrong conclusion.
Misunderstandings ensue. They talk it out.

“A Hunter? You went out and bred with a Hunter? Are you out of your mind stupid seonsaeng!”
The slip of the tongue came out too naturally, but old habits, especially developed through centuries, hardly died. There was only a soft, grave chuckle, and then a faint whisper:
“Just give them my sword, idiot apprentice.”

Summary
Taylor Hebert has had a difficult past few years.
Two and a half years ago, Taylor Hebert's mother passed away in a tragic car accident.
Two years ago, Danny met a man named Shawn who worked as a consultant for the PRT and had a son around Taylor's age, and the two of them found they had a lot in common.
Eighteen months ago, Taylor's best friend Emma decided that she didn't want to be friends anymore, and started a campaign of bullying and harassment against Taylor.
A year ago, Danny and Shawn started officially dating, which left Taylor with very mixed feelings.
Six months ago, Shawn and his son Addison moved in to the Hebert house, after their old apartment had been destroyed in a villain attack.
One month ago, Taylor was subjected to a vile prank that had left her with a week's stay in the hospital and superpowers.
She can't fly, or shoot lasers from her eyes, or anything cool like that. Instead, Taylor discovers that she can control insects in a small radius, as well as empower them with abilities, changing them into larger, more monstrous forms. Not the most heroic of powers, but she's determined to make it work.
