PART 3 SPOILERS, DIVERGES FROM CANON AT CH 373
It had been three years since that day. Baek Saheon was doing great. In terms of his job, he had climbed the ranks faster than anyone else. Already a Section Chief with his own team. The proper higher ups were kissed up to, the proper subordinates were menaced. He prioritized his life and job over everything else. He was flourishing. So what if his long-term subordinate just died? People come and go so easily, it was best not to get attached, so of course he felt nothing about it. And the fact that it happened the day before that specific anniversary definitely did not make it hurt worse. Baek Saheon was fine.
So when a Doll in a familiar shape appears on his desk, delivered by someone he thought was long dead, what else was he supposed to do? NOT bring it into a Darkness with him and follow the instructions in order to summon himself a Good Friend?
It wasn't like he needed the companionship or anything...
But maybe this one wouldn't leave him.

The thunder of Kim Soleum’s heartbeat drowned out almost everything. The nausea, the cold sweat crawling down his back, the deafening roar of the train tracks beneath them, and the chilling screams of people dying inside the ghost story known as ⟪ 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐴𝑏𝑦𝑠𝑠 𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑠𝑝𝑜 ⟫.
His stomach twisted. His breath caught in his throat.
The realisation that 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙 was somehow more terrifying than the screaming.
Kim Soleum barely managed a gasp when, shielded by the train seats, a cold hand slipped into his and closed around it.
He looked up, and his gaze met clear, unwavering eyes, an assuring smile, and the familiar, beautiful face of someone he knew, filled with quiet concern.
The face that was looking at him—really looking at him—even now, when fear had stripped away his composure.
The hand holding his tightened, anchoring him with a simple—
𝐼'𝑚 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒.
Something inside Soleum gave way.
His throat, locked tight with fear, finally loosened.
Because in that moment, he remembered something that made all the difference.
