Then there she was. That stupid, cocky, ignorant, smirk plastered on her face. Caitlyn’s grip on her pencil and pocket watch tightened until her knuckles were white. Violet hadn’t even looked at her yet, but was fiddling with the zipper of her duffle bag.
“Sorry I’m-” She finally looked up. She was wearing her hair up. Strange. “Locker room girl” she said with a smirk. Caitlyn felt her eye twitch as she referenced their locker room encounter, she was surprised Violet remembered.
“You’re who I have to tutor?” Caitlyn said she felt her lip curl upwards slightly. Violet had done far too much of that vanilla cologne. Then Caitlyn noticed the beads of sweat, she must’ve just gotten back from practice, didn’t have the time to shower?
That’s why Caitlyn would’ve left practice early.
“Yeah, I guess. You’re my mysterious tutor” Violet said, raising her eyebrows dramatically and mimicking Caitlyn's tone with a rather shitty British accent.
“Will you pick your feet up?” Caitlyn snarled.
“Loosen up a little cupcake”

“Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn panicked, feeling extraordinarily unprepared having been thrust into her new position without so much as even a handbook to consult. What were the formalities? What was she supposed to respond with? Where was the damn push to talk button…
“Hellooo? I said Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn fiddled with her headset, having finally found the green button on the side and hastily letting out a rather breathless reply. “Um, yes. Hello? This is Houston. I copy.”
There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”

Caitlyn has been assigned as the personal capcom to one of the astronauts currently on a year long expedition at the international space station. Cue long months of pining and desperate longing.
