What no one tells Leona Kingscholar about marriage is that when you propose to someone, apparently you are marrying the family as well. He sends his meanest regards to the person who made up that rule, signed I will maul you in your sleep. He loves Kalim deeply, but love can only take you so far when the family you are marrying into hates your guts.
All is fair in war and love, but may the King of Beasts watch over the poor groom, because a tigers’ den is a horrible place for a lion to be in.

But right now Kalim can’t look at Jamil without remembering the truth of his friend's bitterness at Kalim, at his situation in life. Jamil regrets his actions - deeply. But Kalim can’t forget the memory of the hate in Jamil’s eyes.
Sometimes he wishes he was never born as Kalim Al Asim…
One magical book later and Kalim gets what he wants: the opportunity to run away. He takes it, he just didn't expect Riddle and Azul with their own reasons to come along.
