“You… you’re bleeding!”
For the first time since Henry barreled into the Suchdol courtyard, Hans looks at him, really looks at him. He’d been nearly blinded earlier by happiness, then by food and drink and lust. Now, he studies Henry as he would a particularly well-crafted longbow. His right cheek is scuffed. He has dark bags under his blue eyes, which are duller than usual. Surely a sign that it’s been at least a full day and night since he last slept. There’s already a bruise emerging from underneath his collar, and his dented armor is no doubt concealing other injuries.
Hans reaches down, runs a thumb delicately over the scraped cheek.
“You’re the one who needs tending. Not me.”
Reunited after the end of the Praguer's siege, Hans and Henry face what the future holds for them both.
