Tim leans forward with his elbows on his knees. “Look, I’m not stupid. I know why I’m here. Everyone is overreacting, though. I’m really fine. Bruce is just paranoid.”
Brenda doesn’t react outwardly, but the space between her brows produces a faint wrinkle. “I think any parent would be worried to find out that their child has been cutting themselves.” Hearing it said so openly, like it’s a word that’s okay to use in real-life conversation makes Tim flinch.
Everyone else has been talking around it: Tim’s problem, or This situation. They never called it what it was because it’s not what they think it is. Tim isn’t doing anything more dangerous than what they all do every night. People get hurt sometimes; it’s an unavoidable part of life. Who cares if Tim has a few extra scars to go with the rest?

Patrick couldn’t help but notice, however, that Hugh Morris had surprisingly huge pectorals. They were even larger than Patrick’s, and, Patrick observed, so were his biceps. Oh my God, what did a Jester even need all of that muscle for? Patrick had no idea the other mii was built like this, he must’ve kept it concealed under that stupidly baggy garb he wore everyday.
…Why did Patrick’s face feel like it was burning?
