Summary
He had lived out the last week on autopilot, barely speaking to his dormmates. Barely eating, barely sleeping. If the others had been concerned, they hadn’t said anything, chalking up his lack of vitality to the harrowing experience that Tartarus had been. In truth, Riddle was a shell of himself. He barely saw himself as fit to be Housewarden anymore. After all, if he could not uphold the law, how could he enforce rule-abiding behavior upon anyone else?
Riddle had known what the consequences would be when he chose to save him. In that split second, Riddle had sealed his fate, gone against everything he stood for. And in that moment, there was nothing more worth it to him.
—
When things go terribly wrong in Tartarus, Riddle makes the choice to heal Azul, knowingly breaking the law. What follows is an identity crisis of epic proportions, a showdown with the Headmage, and an encounter with Azul himself.
