"You didn't grow out your beard like I asked." InkHeart's voice was sorrowful, "I was so worried, you know. Years without you by my side, and then hearing about Mechaman's crash and retirement. Then learning you were working as a dispatcher." His voice is suddenly a lot closer, dipping into something carefully neutral, "You're so small, now, bluejay."
Something hitches in Robert's throat and he reminds himself to keep his eyes trained on either his coffee or the ground.

“The mountain top is where the alcohol is purest,” an old man says, pointing to the peak. “It’s about a 4-hour hike from here to there.”
Frowning, the old man looks at the Redhaired man. He swears he’s seen this guy somewhere but he can’t really place where.
“It’s recommended you stay on the edge of the mountain,” the old man gestures. “Unless your tolerance is good. Most people end up passing out on their way up. You look young enough to handle it! Don’t say too long! I’ve heard from those who wander too high up that they see hallucinations!”
“Hallucinations?” Shanks echoes excitedly.

Summary
There’s a special kind of liquor on Elbaph.
The lovey-dovey kind, not the sex kind, but the truth-telling kind. It’s a type of liquor that would drive the most reserved man to loudly proclaim his undying love. It’s what Ripley once served Gaban. He was a bumbling fool for the rest of the night, confessing affection after affection.
It really did help settle things.
And boy, does it look like there are things to be settled between Shanks and that rubberboy.
