It’s been a few days since The Favorite Character Awards.
Pomni has been through a number of bizarre things during her time in the circus. Candy truck chases, angel head horrors, minimum wage labor, athletic events, gun-filled battle royales. But none of these come close to what she witnesses on a seemingly innocent day full of beach-filled fun: Caine attempting to take his own life.
After managing to stop him, Pomni takes it upon herself (and is borderline forced to by Bubble) to help keep Caine’s mental state intact by engaging in improvised therapy sessions with him. After all, if Caine died, what would happen to the circus? And to the humans that lived within it? This was her only concern at first. But as Caine opens up to her more through these sessions, she realizes just how much the AI is hurting and how long he has been harboring these negative emotions.
Turns out Caine needs more help than she thought.
He's just as trapped in this game as they are. And worse.

Summary
Years ago, a now-defunct company known as C&A created a virtual reality video game called "The Amazing Digital Circus" featuring a highly advanced ringmaster guide. However, the game was boycotted and the project was scrapped when several beta testers mysteriously died while in the game. Not many details about these strange deaths are known, but rumor has it that the ringmaster AI within the game was responsible for the player deaths.
In present day, a 25-year-old woman finds herself the victim of a kidnapping. A strange group of people force a headset on her and send her into The Amazing Digital Circus game to be sacrificed to the rogue AI ringmaster. With a new jester appearance, she finds a group of fellow kidnapping victims who have formed a group of survivors with the goal of finding The Ringmaster and killing him, believing it will grant them their exit from the digital world.
However, one day, Pomni comes face-to-face with The Ringmaster himself. Or as he calls himself, Caine. And she realizes that...maybe the others have it all wrong. Maybe The Ringmaster wasn't the monster they believed him to be.
What was the truth behind the deaths that occurred in this world? What were these...abstractions?

A Caine angst fic I made out of inspiration and being relatively bored.
Caine has been running the circus for many years without a break, eventually something is bound to go wrong. He’s desperately trying to find the exit in the code at the humans requests, no matter how hard he tries he never seems to find it. The pressure of it all is becoming too much… no one believes him when he says he’s trying. Will the programmers ever respond to his daily reports of glitches and problems? What will happen to Caine? Will they find an exit? Who knows…
