65 Holy shit this fic was glorious. Mephiles makes a comeback! It has a lot of plot - it's amazing - and the SONADOW moments are breathtakingly cute ❤️ also omega's and tails' friendship is so well written, and I absolutely adore rouge.
An absolute joy, and everytime the characters interact is fantastic.Shadow has always been proud of his status as the Ultimate Lifeform. But with his closest friends in danger, he begins to wonder exactly what that means to him, and who he really is.

He carefully moves closer to the blue, sleeping hedgehog, not wanting to disturb his peace. He can’t help but stare at him, before he slowly places his head onto his chest, pressing an ear to listen to his heartbeat. The rhythm is a lot slower now; he used to remember how fast it would beat back when they were younger.
…It’s hard, sometimes. To accept the cruel truth. That Sonic is getting older, while he remains in this unchanging, youthful body. As if a hundred years haven’t passed since they first met.
It’s times like these that he feels like being the Ultimate Lifeform is nothing more than a curse.

Have I already mentioned how much I adore this fic? I AM DEAD. I AM GONE. I AM FLABBERGASTED.
This author has such fantastic ideas and a great sense of humor. And one way to get me absolutely hooked is definitely a good dash of comedy - something that their characterization of Sonic provides perfectly. All in all, I'm convinced that this is one of the main gems of this fandom's fanfics.
