"You've been doing that a lot," Stelle states it like a fact once Sunday leaves the car, book in hand. The room feels dimmer all of a sudden, and Dan Heng isn't sure why. Another thing to ponder.
"Do what?" Dan Heng knows perfectly well what she's talking about, and he knows she knows he knows what she's talking about. Regardless, Dan Heng finds himself being evasive with no clear purpose. It feels a tiny bit strange.
"Look at people like they're a chess game you're about to lose," They say, eyeing the actual chess game in front of them with a disgruntled expression.

"Also," She says, totally nonchalant. "Dan Heng has been staring at Sunday like he's a particularly delicious piece of meat.""Huh!?" March squeaks, her eyes wide and unblinking as she stares at her.
"Huh?" Dan Heng echoes, willing the heat that is now slowly creeping up his neck to dissipate.
"Huh?" Stelle blinks at them, as if they hadn't said that insane string of words.

Summary
Growing up in the wake of a war is not easy. I makes you wear anger as armor and use propriety as a shield.
Lan Sizhui has learnt how to be perfect. Perfect obedience, perfect performance, perfect understanding of truth. But soon his perfection has to reckon with Jin Ling's anger. An anger that tells an entirely different story. At least he has Lan Jingyi to support him when his world tips on its axis.
