Summary
Deputy Rick Grimes has a wife, a son, and a life he's spent years trying to hold together. Lately things haven't been right at home, and he's starting to suspect he doesn't know the people closest to him nearly as well as he thought.
Daryl Dixon is a bartender at McKenna's, a rundown little bar just outside town limits. He's foul-mouthed, suspicious of cops, and has enough problems of his own without Rick showing up to add to them. But there's something about Daryl that keeps Rick coming back, even when he doesn't have a good reason to.
As Rick's suspicions grow and trouble starts catching up with Daryl and his brother, the two men strike up an unlikely friendship. Somewhere between late-night conversations, shared secrets, and finding excuses to spend time together, Rick starts getting something from Daryl that he hasn't had at home in a long time.
But the closer they get, the harder it becomes to pretend there's nothing going on between them.

Summary
Daryl Dixon expects very little from life beyond a working bakery mixer, a decent amount of sleep, and customers who don't irritate him before sunrise. Rick Grimes ruins that arrangement by becoming his favorite customer.
Rick is middle-aged, straight, missing his left hand, and determined to restore his brother’s 1972 Triumph. Daryl is middle-aged, gay, and determined not to fall for him while helping him fix the thing. This works about as well as expected. Rick keeps coming back, Daryl keeps letting him, and their cautious friendship becomes increasingly difficult to explain as friendship.
Unfortunately, Rick is not the only man paying attention to Daryl. The life Daryl walked away from has caught up with him, and the people involved never accepted that he was allowed to leave.

Summary
Out there was a man worshipped like a deity, surrounded by beauty, money, and endless temptation. Backstage after the show there'd be champagne, pills, and line after line of gorgeous pristine people waiting for a chance to be near Rick Grimes.
And here was Daryl. Hiding in the dark like a rat behind the curtain, getting a hard-on just watching the guy sweat.
It was pathetic. Worse than pathetic. It was a cruel joke.
or
When a missing microphone sends Daryl behind the locked door of a VIP dressing room, he finds the untouchable rock god unravelling under the crushing weight of his own stage high. What starts as a silent, backstage release quickly becomes the only anchor keeping Rick from drowning in the noise.
