Summary
Dan finds himself alone in a spaceship, far from Earth, with spotty memories and a spottier idea of his mission. All he remembers is that microscopic aliens are eating Earth’s sun, and in fact most of the stars in the known universe. All save one: the one Dan’s spaceship is fast approaching. But before he can do anything about that, he meets a different alien. Phil, Dan calls him, has traveled to this star for the same reason.
They might as well team up to figure out a way to stop the sun-eating aliens. It’s an added bonus that Phil has beautiful blue eyes, a killer sense of humor, and makes Dan feel safe in the terrifying void of space. If only Dan didn’t have the little problem of being incompatible with Phil’s atmosphere. And mid-suicide mission. Just his luck.

For now, Phil forces himself up. Sometimes, if he lays in bed enough, Dan will check on him. And he’ll do his soft voice and bring Phil a coffee, and he’ll yap about something and get all worked up and Phil will just sit and smile at him.
It’s a tempting enough thought that Phil almost wants to go back to bed and wait for it. Sometimes, he does. But today, the idea of someone doting on him for a nothing issue– just another Phil migraine– feels… annoying. Phil feels annoying, for that. And maybe someday Dan will realize that this is all really annoying, that Phil wasn’t like this when they first met. That Phil used to be energetic and chase him around his mum’s house and fuck him hard enough to make the bedsprings squeak. Now, Phil’s got a bit of a headache. And he’s thirty four.
