Summary
A Core-rupted Marcy AU set during S3 after the canon events of True Colors and Olivia & Yunan:
Imprisoned within the mindscape at her lowest point, The Core leverages Marcy’s traumatic memories to persuade her into joining their “noble” cause of restoring Amphibia to its former glory in exchange for partial control of her body. Fearing her friends want nothing to do with her and she has nothing left to live for, will Marcy turn to a path of darkness to serve the Core?...
(This is a rewrite of the original Losing Marbles aimed to address the mischaracterization and remedy the 3-4 month timeskip that basically skipped Marcy's descent. As fun as it is to make our blorbo go fully on unhinged evil, We both learned it makes for a far better story if there is more conflict within her heart to challenge the Core’s constant manipulation.)
Also, this AU will feature a few original Core Member characters carefully crafted to expand upon what we know about the Core and serve the story.

Summary
On hiatus!
I saw wolf Sasha x goat Marcy art and threads on Twitter so here we are. Also if the tags weren’t clear, this fic will eventually have quite a few sex scenes so it’s kind of a “porn with plot” fic I guess. If that’s not your thing, then turn back now or just skip the chapters where there’s smut. Both Marcy and Sasha are 18 in this, but as the fic goes on they do eventually get a bit older.

Anne looks up and closes Marcy’s journal.
She doesn’t really talk about Marcy and the Plantars don’t bring her up. It all feels like a lifetime ago. It’s only been a few days, but still. Time is treacherous. It makes the past feel like something unreal. But Anne still remembers the pain where the toads fractured her arm and all the bumps and bruises and little outrages she suffered from all manner of critters and ne'er-do-wells. She remembers the rush of power when her eyes turn blue and the overwhelming exhaustion that takes her immediately after.
She remembers her first kiss, on the twenty-somethingth floor of the Hemisphere Hotel with Marcy clutching her like a life preserver.

There’s really no point in denying it. Anne knows that Sprig will do anything for her as sure as he knows she’d do the same for him. It’s dumb to hide something like this from him. Almost as dumb as hiding it from herself. “Dude… it’s just… it doesn’t make sense. I’ve known her for years. Years. And now all of a sudden I’m… this? I’m this? What is this?”
“Eh well it happens,” Sprig says with a shrug. He hops over to an entire display of snail shell polish. “You know a person, then suddenly you see them from a whole new perspective and they’re new. I mean it’s been months since the last time you’ve been together and a lot changed since then. You’ve both changed, right? That’s gotta make you see things in a new light. Probably.”
“That’s oddly insightful of you.”
“I know, right? Usually I learn an important life lesson only after putting myself or someone I love in mortal peril. I guess I’m lucky today. Or Polly and Hop Pop are fighting for their lives right now and we don’t know it yet. Let’s stay in blissful ignorance, just for a little while.”
