“Mack.”
Silence, thick and striking.
“Just imagine it,” Mack whispers, “Just pretend for a minute, okay? We aren’t getting married, I know, it’s fucking stupid. But just, like, pretend.”
“It’s really late, dude. We need to sleep.”
“What kind of mattress would we have?” He asks.
He can’t help it. He has to pry, he has to dig his fingers into the cracks and pull it all apart.

Summary
He spared a thought for his boys being chased through the city. Every one of them brave, fearless, breathtakingly loyal, and willingly sacrificed for this golden boy now slung over Sam’s shoulder. Every one of them deserved a bounty like his and yet if any of them died no one but the crew would mourn them.
He looked at the man’s face, peaceful in sleep.
"When your guardians wake up, they are going to rip the world apart looking for you."
He grinned wickedly.
"Good luck."
