Summary
Will had always believed that what happened when he was twelve was just something he was supposed to endure.
It lived in his body like background noise—never loud enough to name, never quiet enough to disappear. He learned early how to compartmentalize: skate harder, train longer, think less. Hockey rewarded that kind of discipline. Pain that didn’t slow you down didn’t count.
That’s what his father had taught him, in words and in silence.OR

“Go on a walk with me? We can grab some food or something,” but Will recognized a small smirk Mack was trying to hide, one that told him that wasn’t the only idea he had in mind.

Or; Mack finds a way to get his frustration out at a football game.

Summary
Will’s wanted to meet Macklin for so long. They’ve played against each other, for the last few years through Juniors and then in NCAA’s college hockey. But they’ve never really met properly, only as opponents. He’s speculated, wondered and endlessly for hours how they will fit together on the ice, in the locker room, during trips, on this team. He’s even let his imagination wander in places he really shouldn’t, turning his yearning into unfiltered libido fantasies he knows he has no business conjuring. And yet…

Summary
“There’s only one bed?” Will asked uncertainly.
It was as if the question was addressed to himself, even though it didn't make sense.
Mack, who had followed behind him, stopped next to him. His shoulder was almost touching Smith's.
Will sighed heavily, clearly annoyed.
“They probably made a mistake.” He sighed again and grumbled an almost quiet “Great,” which did not sound great at all. “I’ll just call room service,” he said, walking to the phone on the desk.

Summary
Macklin had always assumed he’d present as a beta—an alpha, if he was lucky enough.
Clearly, luck wouldn’t meet him.
At sixteen, Macklin had presented as an omega, to the quiet detriment of the entire Celebrini family—but most painfully, to Rick and to himself.
But failing at luck didn’t mean he was barred from the good things in life. Failure in luck didn’t mean failure in life. It would never bar him from the things that mattered.
Because it was never luck that made him the first overall draft pick. Never luck that earned him the Hobey Baker. And it certainly wasn’t luck that convinced the Sharks—or Warsofsky—that he was worthy of an A stitched across his chest.
To say that Macklin Celebrini is lucky to even be in the NHL is a goddam insult.
Those accomplishments were built. Earned. Bled for. Every moment, every game, every scar—he had carved them out himself, proving his worth over and over.
And it was certainly no luck that had brought him here, to Will’s hotel bed, to this quiet, trembling intimacy.
-
Alternatively; Macklin is an omega. Will is an alpha. And they love each other.
