    The sins of the father are not metaphor in the MCU. They are documented.

    Howard Stark co-founded SHIELD. He also recruited Arnim Zola — a man he knew had worked for Nazi Germany's most extreme scientific programme — into the institution he built. He worked alongside Zola for decades while HYDRA grew within SHIELD's walls. His weapons created the conditions that produced Bucky Barnes's captivity. His co-creation of the Arc Reactor was weaponised against his own legacy. He appears, on recovered footage from 1970, in the facility where Zola's face would later appear on screens.

    This meta examines what Howard Stark knew, when he knew it, and what his choices made possible. It asks a question the MCU has consistently avoided: if Tony Stark bears responsibility for the weapons he sold, what does Howard Stark bear for the institution he built and the scientist he recruited?
