Summary
It is the surety of the sentence, the way that Simon is absolutely convinced in what he says, like it's the simplest fact.
Five times two very old men discussed the status of a young third party (and the one time that status changed).

Summary
It simply wouldn’t happen. He’d come to terms with that.
Elias is too wrapped up in the Watcher’s rituals, so temperamental, and Peter is too distant, clumsy. It doesn’t stop him from finding his way back.

Summary
The home of Jonah Magnus was less grand than Moorland -just as old - and more gaudy, but still, less.
It was not the Eye's seat of power, but still served Jonah well, passing it down from institute head to institute head so he'd never have to leave. The walls were steeped almost as much in the Lonely as the Eye. It put Peter at ease, when it should not have, blunting the ever present prickle of sight into a more familiar cold numbness.
