The thing with nests is that they intimate, they’re personal. They are supposed to be the perfect mix of the pack and themselves. It’s the place where you’re supposed to feel the safest, where no one can touch you. At least that was they taught Evan in school; it is not like he had a lot of experience.
He supposed that if he ever presented as an omega, he would like to have a nest. A special nest. The thing is, his sister and dad were betas and his mother an alpha, he would probably be going to be a beta. Nonetheless, the idea of a nest sounded nice.

“What about Jee, Maddie?” Eddie grabs it like the steel frame in his side and jams it straight through her heart. “Who’d you rather leave? Me or her?”
For a moment, she thinks of how simple it would be. How badly she wants to get out. To remove the danger, to remove the possibility of leaving Jee, again, of leaving Chimney again. She could get out of the car. She could survive this.
Some part of her wants to, so bad, but she’s staring at Eddie, and thinking of Buck’s shaking hands after he got shot, thinking of Eddie spinning Christopher at the fire station, thinking of all the things this world has to lose if it loses Eddie Diaz. Thinking of all the things her brother would lose.
Thinking of all the things she would lose.

“I’m worried about you.” Buck says, so softly, so tenderly.
There’s these walls Eddie has built around his heart. Carefully constructed, brick by brick, since he was a kid in Texas, trying to fit in. It’s funny how they just disappear around Buck, like they never even existed. Around Christopher too, to some extent. But he still has to be the adult, the dad with Chris. But with Buck, he can let it go.
So he lets it go, and says, “Yeah, I’m worried about me too.”
Because he is. His brain is melting, leaking out of his ears. He knows Kim is not Shannon, he knows. But he so wants her to be. Because without Shannon, he’s broken.

Eddie leans on Buck during the Kim fiasco instead of repressing and Chris never sees her. So everything should be fine, right? There shouldn't be a gay arc right behind him? RIGHT?
