Dipper Pines had, over the years, survived Weirdmageddon, two dragon fights broken bones, four instances of demonic possession, a really bad date with Gideon Gleeful, endless amounts of random Cryptid fights and too many demon battles from random entities that held a vendetta against Bill to count.
Being taken out by an Etsy witch was not how he saw his story ending.

Summary
When Stanford Pines' sacrifice destroyed Bill Cipher and forced him to call on the Axolotl, even his purely chaotic mind couldn't fathom what would happen next.
The Axolotl just said that he'd need to "absolve his crime" and take "a different form".
Why this involved him becoming a dumb magical bird with an even dumber power was beyond him.
But the real punishment came clear soon enough: along with being in an animal form, he now had to watch over the Pines twins of a different timeline.
Talk about cruel and unusual...

Summary
The first cage he finds has a sign on it.
It’s made out of old driftwood and it reads: “Deadly! Do not open!”
Stan reads it a few times. The words have been written with red paint which has smeared across the sign in a few places. The writing is hasty and barely legible, as if it was done in a moment of great hurry or panic. The red paint and the occasional splatters make it look like blood and the numbness in Stan’s brain recedes long enough for him to snort a derogatory laugh and roll his eyes.
His brother can be so dramatic.

After the portal incident, Stan frees all of Ford's specimen. He thinks that's the end of it.
He couldn't have been more wrong.
