Summary
Despite all appearances and what he would’ve really, really preferred to happen, The Lamplighter did not die on that suicide mission.
In the aftermath of his suicide, what remains of The Seven’s very own firestarter is taken, studied, and finally repurposed. Vought does not resurrect him so much as suspend him in an awful state between life and death, breathing without living.
Given how things hardly go to plan under the supervision of Vought, shadows begin to gather where they shouldn’t, stretching in directions that don’t match any light source. Almost as if correlated, the more Lamplighter is made to endure, the more those shadows thicken. Buried beneath layers of alien voices and borrowed power, there lingers the faintest suggestion that he is aware of what he has become.

Ilene adjusted. “Do you know what happened to you?”
There was a pause longer than the others. “..No.” Ren admitted.
“Do you remember your last location?”
Ren took a breath. “Apex.” He replied, not satisfied with the incomplete answer, but it existed.
“What year is it?” Ilene continued, unbroken.
“2024.”
“What’s your occupation?”
A fraction of a second passed, just enough to register the question as loaded.
“..Engineer, I was the CTO at Apex Cybernetics.” It wasn’t the whole truth, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Ilene’s gaze lingered on Ren a moment longer, not searching now, but confirming. Whatever checklist she’d been running through settled into place behind her eyes. “He’s responsive,” she declared, more to the room than to him. “Cognitively intact, at least at a surface level. We’ll need scans to be certain, but —” she paused, “He’s coherent.” She concluded.
OR: Dr. Nathan Lind saved the day with his quick thinking, why not save the life with the same quick thinking? If only things were that simple..

Summary

We all know Player 124: Nam-gyu, we uh.. We don’t love him, but believe it or not, Nam-gyu has been around since the first breath was drawn and the first corpse hit the dirt. He has guided carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs, kings and beggars, soldiers and children, sinners and saints. In the end, all roads led to him. Despite several religions begging to differ, eternity is dull, and even Death is not immune to boredom.
The games offer something new— a slaughter wearing the clothing of salvation, a stage set for him to collect what is rightfully his.
It should have been simple, but something is wrong, there are others like him here, Life is watching, and worse than that? Death is starting to care for a mortal and even considers refusing to escort him to the other side when the time comes, for the first time in his infinite days, Death is playing a game where the outcome isn’t certain.

Summary
2024 was a big year for the Titans and learning about them, Godzilla had grown aggressive seemingly overnight and the Hollow Earth discovery was on the rise.. But, over at Apex HQ, an individual injects an odd substance into the Ghidorah skull, triggering a sudden zombie outbreak within the company.. Though, it’s worth noting Apex is filled with extremely powerful individuals, and once they have their sights set on a goal, they don’t intend on letting go easily.

Summary
Gyeong-su settled himself down onto the short cement steps that led up to the fake doorway behind them, the marbles rattling softly in his palm. “This is the biggest tragedy since they cancelled Show Me the Money 9,” he jeered, his tone strangely casual as if they were talking about bad weather instead of their imminent deaths.
Mi-na stayed standing, pressing her back against the brick wall, strangely content with the texture digging into her spine as opposed to if she sat down and vomited out of sheer nervousness. “What should we play?” She forced herself to pry despite the knots twisting in her gut.
Gyeong-su didn’t answer right away, instead opting to change the subject. “I don’t get how you have such an easy time saying no.” He simply put.
Mi-na’s head snapped toward him, brows drawing together. “What’s that supposed to mean?” She demanded.
OR: Set in an alternate universe where the Season 2 characters play Season 1’s games, Gyeong-su and Mi-na form an unlikely pair that results in an even unlikelier outcome, peeling back the layers of two seemingly useless fodder characters.

Summary
Long story short, I have way too much time on my hands and instead of doing anything productive, I created a version of a character with 3 minutes of screen time in my head. If you enjoy my version of Ren Serizawa and the world around him, I put all of the fics in one series so that way they’re easy to find.
Unless specified, these are not apart of the same universe, but it has all the same headcanons and depth I gave to Ren that the canon version either lacked or didn’t have anyone in the writers room to care enough, in differing circumstances.

For when your characters are frantically googling stuff (includes search history!). There is a clickable version where you click to reveal suggested searches, and a normal, static version.
This was made to be fairly unintrusive, it works on both mobile + desktop, and it's still understandable when the workskin's disabled.
