Summary
Penelope May Parker loves working at Stark Industries.
It's one of the few things she loves in any manner anymore, really.
Her parents? Died in a plane crash when she was six. Her Uncle Ben, her father figure? Died saving her during the Battle of New York, pushing her out of the way of a chunk knocked out of a building by a Chitauri ship and being buried beneath the rubble himself. All she has left is her Aunt May (not even her biological aunt), who doubles as a mother figure; her best friend, Ned Leeds; her teams, clubs, and classes at Midtown, a school she's at on scholarship; her job at Delmar's; and her internship with S.I.
It's a good list, but it's not a lot practically. So when freaking Tony Stark chooses her to be his personal intern, it's a dream come true. She ends up getting super close to him, as well as by extension his so-called "IronFam"--Happy Hogan, the Pepper Potts, and Col. Rhodey.
So when she gets powers from a radioactive spider's bite in a freak accident on a field trip to Oscorp, Penny decides not to tell anyone, not wanting to break up her newfound family. But her new superhero side-gig ends up making it harder for her to hide.
