Wakatoshi tahu ia terlalu memanjakan Mikoto, dan Satori sering mengingatkannya soal itu. Tapi sulit baginya untuk tidak luluh, sebab ia sendiri tumbuh tanpa tahu rasanya dimanja. Dibesarkan dengan disiplin keras oleh ibu tunggal, Wakatoshi belajar lagi caranya mencintai saat menyaksikan Satori yang berjuang mempertaruhkan nyawa ketika Mikoto lahir lebih cepat dari perkiraan waktu.
Bagi Wakatoshi, sepanjang ia bisa melihat Mikoto tertawa dan tidak mempertanyakan mengapa orang tuanya tidak pernah mengecup keningnya, dan sepanjang ia bisa melihat Satori geleng-geleng kepala dan mengomel, rasanya sudah cukup.
