Buck didn’t mean to say it. Really he didn’t. He doesn’t even remember the conversation that led up to it. The only thing he remembers saying when he meets Eddie’s eyes is ‘Wow I cannot believe I’m in love with you.’
But then he clearly remembers Eddie looking at him like he just told Eddie he was going to the moon in a week and ran. He even dropped the spoon he was stirring sauce with.
They were just going to make a new recipe that Athena had sent Buck, have a beer, and watch something while talking about Christopher’s latest school project.
Buck’s love confession was not part of the plan.
