Derek sighed tiredly before taking a seat at the opposite end of the sofa and opening the book.
“It looks at how pack members experience the bond based on what they are. Instincts and connections vary greatly from born werewolves, to bitten werewolves, banshees, hunters, and even humans.”
Stiles paused, “That… actually sounds very interesting. I kinda wanna read it now. But my head feels like a warzone, and I definitely don’t have the energy to hold a book that heavy in my hands right now.”
He twisted and hoisted his legs up onto the couch when he had an idea.
“Maybe you could read it to me, Sourwolf? And who knows? Maybe hearing you say more than two sentences in a row might be enough to actually shock the sickness out of me?”

Derek grunted and rose to his feet with what little strength he had left. It didn’t help that his wolf was busy expending energy on resenting the fact that he was expected to follow John’s orders, but that the Sheriff didn’t feel inclined to respect his own. But he was mostly angry because John was a noble idiot just like his son.
“You’re as stupid as Stiles.”
“Is that how you thank people who save your life?”
“You shouldn’t have. You got shot because of me.”
“It’s my job to protect the citizens of Beacon Hills, Derek. And that includes you.”

“So let me get this straight,” The sheriff massages his temples, “You found a magic book, and performed a magic spell that has backfired and magically bound you to Derek Hale, rendering you both in agony if you’re not in the same room.”
Derek and Stiles exchange a look.
“Um. Yes.” Stiles says sheepishly.
“Right. And just to be clear, when we’re talking agony… exactly how agonizing is the agony?”

Summary
'Oh, shit,' Stiles says, because what else do you say when the extremely handsome, probably unstable son of Alpha of the Hale pack - who possibly hates all humans, that part was unclear - is apparently your soulmate?
Or, Stiles has made it to eighteen, survived as the squishy human in the pack of werewolves, and watched that same pack - led by his best friend - turn into something steady and stable. A treaty with their neighbours, the famed Hale pack, is a good thing. A really good thing. And a visit to their territory to solidify it is a perfect oppourtunity for the McCall Pack to better get to know their new allies. Stiles is sure there's absolutely no way anything could go wrong.
