Ch 12
A fic about being hurt, and healing from it slowly by opening yourself up to the idea that you're allowed to have good things.
A really, really beautifully written fic. Well characterized both individually but also portrays Gai's and Kakashi's relationship well.
I spent the entire last half of ch 12 crying. Just, a really lovely fic. Much heavier than I anticipated - quite heavy on the "underage non con elements" (due to ANBU honeypot missions) - handled really well though.

I'd love to see another part to this. I love how comfortable it feels, while still having an interesting political plot, and I'd LIVE to see a Part 3 that continues to explore Kakashi stepping further into his roles in Konoha, his roles as a farmer, and his relationship with Gai - which is just so incredibly well written and they are so comfortable with each other and so well matched to each other despite being opposites. This series literally makes me want to go find Kakashi/Gai fics despite having like literally NONE of that romantic relationship.

Ch 19
What a lovely work. This fic embodies comfort, the comfort of a cup of tea on a cold day, or the comfort of a friend sitting beside you in silence as you watch a sunset. You really see Kakashi slowly become comfortable in his own skin, and learn to accept the companionship of others, and I love I love I love the way Kakashi's friendship with Gai is portrayed and developed. You can so clearly tell that Gai cares for Kakashi, and that Kakashi is comfortable around Gai despite their vastly different personalities.
What a treat, to read something that so well characterized them.
Despite the comfort of this fic, the learning and living and healing and growing, there is still a political plot that carries strongly throughout the fic - and it is well played, and interesting, and absolutely gives satisfaction when Danzou's misdeeds are exposed and punished.
Well written all around, and one that I look forward to reading this again someday. Highly recommend

Somehow, this is the first and ONLY fic (series) I've found so far that encapsulates what I want in a "Kakashi kidnaps Naruto and raises him as a missing-nin" fic!!!

Ch 9
THIS IS WHAT I'M FUCKING TALKING ABOUTTTT
THIS is the missing-nin "Kakashi-steals-Naruto-and-runs-away" fic that I've been looking for! No other fic with this plot has exactly hit what I wanted to see except this one. Well written, explores Kakashi and Naruto's time together away, how they develop and change, AND has them running into other shinobi and canon characters who DO find out who they are (little reveals!).
Love how this spent time at different periods (4 years old, 6 years old, 9 etc) without rushing, and without spending a billion years at 5 lol
