So, yeah. It was a great day. Until she opened the door to their temporary lodgings, and stepped into their common room, expecting to find it empty. Zoey and Mira both had their own trainees, after all.
But they were both here, and since they were out of direct sight of the door, Rumi heard them before she saw them. First a giggle—that was normal from Zoey. The breathy moan, which stabbed through Rumi’s gut like a lance, was not.
Rumi didn’t mean to sneak. Frankly, hearing that lewd sound from Zoey’s mouth caused every other thought to vacate her head altogether, so she couldn’t have tried if she wanted to. No matter her intentions, the door closed softly, and the room’s other occupants didn’t hear.
