Summary
After Dazai's death in the Beast universe, Chuuya went on a rampage which lead to him being captured by the government. Having long wanted to get their hands on him, as soon as it became clear that no one was coming for him, they once again began experimenting on him.
Eventually the situation led to his death, but that was not the end. Reborn as his younger self in a different version of the world, he perhaps has a chance at finally finding happiness. Provided he doesn't get pulled into any conflicts.

Dazai did say that the only sole reason he joined Port Mafia is that, maybe, he could find something to live for amidst the different pictures of death he can see. After all, it was easier to find what you’re looking for if the other pictures in the gallery strongly contrast what it is you’re searching.
And had he found it? He can say that he had, though not from himself but from someone else.
