When Hayden celebrates his 26th birthday at the beginning of November, surrounded by family and close friends, he realizes he has nothing more to wish for. He has everything he needs, a perfect life. The only thing he regularly wishes for is for his best friend to have an equally perfect life, someone standing beside him. Someone who loves him and someone he loves. Hayden realizes he wants Lily to be here too, holding Shane’s hand as she takes her place around the table among family and friends.
Closing his eyes, Hayden wishes that Shane could finally talk about his feelings with Lily. He wishes they would stop lying to each other and people in their lives about what they mean to each other. Six years is a long time to be causally seeing someone. Then he blows his candles.

“Shane, look at me.” Another hand on his shoulder, the voice he knew. His frantic eyes darted around until he landed on— Hayden. Something loosened in Shane’s chest. Hayden was here. Hayden knew about Ilya, knew about the bond with Ilya.
“Ilya?” Shane tried again, and Hayden swallowed.
“Ilya is okay.” Hayden said, but it felt like a lie. Shane wouldn’t feel like his insides had been scooped out if Ilya was okay. “He’s hurt, but he’s okay. They’re getting out stretchers for you both now.”

Day 6: Soulmates
It was a natural response whenever you met someone new, to find a way to make small contact. It was human instinct. Even if it seemed out of the blue, completely ridiculous, natural curiosity took hold. Karl didn’t believe Sapnap of all people could possibly be his soulmate, and yet all he could think about was “what if he was?”. It was stupid, and still, the back of his mind begged for him to slide his fingers down slightly, to graze over Sapnap’s hand and see if maybe, possibly, some colours would appear.But there was something that stopped him, something that physically kept him that inch apart, something stronger. He couldn’t explain it, and it terrified him.
When Karl agreed to help plan George and Dream's wedding, he didn't realize how painful it would be. Sitting in the corner of the room and staring at the grey flower centrepiece was just another reminder that he was single, lonely, and nowhere close to finding his soulmate. But then he meets the best man, who's well-spoken, flirty and exactly his type, and the colours might be closer to him than he thinks.
