Summary
Ophelia Beauregard, from where George Weasley is standing, is exactly the sort of girl Hogwarts was built to worship and the Weasleys were built to distrust: all green polish, old money, sharp manners, and the deeply antisocial habit of looking at George as though he is too loud, too reckless, and very probably about to knock something expensive over. He hates the smooth superiority of her, the family behind her, and the way she always seems to know exactly where to put the knife.
George Weasley, from Ophelia Beauregard’s point of view, is red in every sense that matters: all heat, temper, bad ideas, and a grin that usually means disaster for her and half the castle. He is reckless where she is careful, vulgar where she is controlled, and possessed of a truly offensive talent for turning her life into a running joke with the help of pranks, public humiliation, and whatever fresh horror he and Fred have smuggled into the corridor this week. He infuriates her. He embarrasses her. He makes himself impossible to ignore.
Then, in what might well be the cruellest prank either of them has ever been forced to endure, they begin to fall for each other. Slowly, furiously, and against every better instinct they possess.
