Summary
Clint laughs. Full-bellied and warm like the steamed milk and sweet honey mixed in her tea. She lets him nudge her arm with his own before they both look back at the vastness of stars and night. “You know what I meant. So, what you gonna do now that you’re free?”
She does not tell him that she’ll never truly know freedom as he does. Does not tell him she has no place in the world.
Instead, she thinks of Ohio. Music and warmth and a house brimming with life.
Natalia is gone. Blown to death with Dreykov in his office and left to burn like all the parts of her they stole.
Natasha can do as she pleases. Sit on porch swings and drink tea from ridiculous mugs with chipped rims and all shaped like animals. Listen to old rock on the radio as her alabaster skin burns under the sun, pulling at the weeds and planting seeds in the dirt. She smiles.
“Whatever I want, with whoever I want to do it with.”
