It clicks at him again. There's an answering shiver in Yoshiki's ribs, a mix of fear and itchy curiosity. Against his better judgement he inches forward, lifting his hand into the space between them. The thing tracks his movements with a noiseless twitch.
"Do you feel other things the same, too? Like... if I touch you, can you feel it?"

Summary
There's not that much to a body, when you really think about it—just a lump of meat and liquids made to haul the important stuff around. Still, there are certain upsides. Hikaru likes the physicality with which it interacts with the world. Every bump, every bruise, proclaims that he exists, that he's as real and tangible as anyone else. That same physicality is remarkably less convenient when he's trying to wedge Yoshiki's whole hand up inside his ribcage.

"Do you want to try feeling inside me again?" Hikaru asks, eyes bright.
"Would I learn anything new, doing it again?" Yoshiki asks a little skeptically. He has tried it twice already, and if anything, he understands Hikaru less.
"Probably not," Hikaru says, but he hasn't moved, and his eyes remain fixed on Yoshiki.
Yoshiki knows that it would be colossally stupid. He's messing with things he doesn't understand, and he doesn't really need Kurebayashi's warnings to know it's dangerous for himself and those around him. He worries that with each brush against whatever lies beneath Hikaru's skin, he loses more of his humanity, that someday he'll be corrupted beyond recognition.
And yet, a part of him wants.

In which Yoshiki takes a break from research to try touching Hikaru again.
