Summary
A story based on my ideas for the Splatoon 3 Hero Mode, presented as a prequel of sorts to what will be the actual Hero Mode.
A young, stubborn Octoling and their wily Salmonid partner stumble onto the scrap hunt of a lifetime when they follow a mysterious stranger out into the desert. The depths of a crater hide ancient human technology, protected for 12,000 years by automated defences and sentries... but not for much longer if the factions tunnelling through the rock get their way.
In a race to the heart of the crater, they will need to find allies to get ahead and beat them all to the treasures beneath, before time runs out for them... and perhaps the entire Splatlands and beyond.Bookmarked by general_o1

Featuring plenty of artwork from all kinds of talented fans, several ongoing arguments, some early proofreading from the lovely AddisonNoxy of "Stormy Dreams" fame, headcanon discourse, overcomplicated worldbuilding, fear, irresponsibility, angst, disease, a 140-song playlist featuring some tracks by the unbelievable GlassesFreekJr, and possible clownfish romance. Takes place roughly a year or so before the events of Splatoon 3.
Although writing for this project began before Splatoon 3's release, "EiG:BSF" has been labeled 'canon compliant' to the Splatoon series after extensive research and confirmation. Previously updated on Saturdays.
