Percy and Annabeth had planned something small. A movie. Two hours of nothing. It shouldn’t have been too much to ask. But the empousai came—and the world, as always, made sure even that didn’t stay theirs. The ordinary things were always the first to go.
So all they could do was mourn it. The movie. The afternoon. Every quiet, impossible thing this life kept taking— until all that was left to grieve was the hope that kept insisting on staying.

Estelle, now a grade schooler, has been bestowed with the most significant quest of her young life: win the quiz bee.
In her corner stands Percy, her most devoted — if deafeningly loud — supporter, and Annabeth, who has approached the study process with the same calculated precision she applies to everything else. One could argue Estelle could not have asked for a more formidable team behind her.
And should any doubt remain, one need only remember a simple truth: competitiveness runs deep in the Jackson bloodline. They do not lose.

Percy scratches the back of his neck. With his pink cheeks and lopsided grin, Annabeth resists the urge to punch him while taming the butterflies in her stomach. “A rose. If I manage to give you six of these, and you accept them, you come to one of my shows. Deal?”

Percy Jackson is guilty. When he left his hometown four years ago for a chance at stardom, he left behind his family and friends. He's made peace with them - except for his ex-girlfriend. His last moments with her remain in his mind as his biggest regret.
Annabeth Chase is weary. When she hears that the world-class star of the neighbourhood has come back to town for a break from the spotlight, she's not sure what to feel. All she knows is that there's no way she's giving him another chance at a relationship with her.

He couldn’t take his eyes off of her.
The way she took in every sculpture, every temple. The soft smile gracing her face every time she walked closer to read the small plaque of information. Annabeth glowed underneath the Met’s massive sky lights, her dark skin seemed to shimmer every time she turned her head. Her braids were slightly tangled, mostly as a result from him running his hands through it on the train.
Percy could only stare at her in awe. She was here. Right next to him. For the first time in what felt like a lifetime. He had thought of her endlessly these past few months, desperate to see her again, and hoping she was doing okay. The sight of her moving, laughing, existing just within arms reach had made it difficult for him to breathe normally.
Annabeth Chase was here, and he had missed her. More than he had ever allowed himself to admit.
