Summary
Justin has had it. This "thing" (whatever it is) with Brian isn't working out. He needs more than fucking and a rare unguarded smile. He needs unambiguous love and a sense of safety; after all his life's been turned upside-down by violence. Brian seems determined to snatch back even the smallest gifts just minutes after he gives them. The straws keep piling up and up . . . and then along comes Ethan Gold. Talented, romantic and unashamed of his feelings.
Brian has his heart broken, which would be good for him and his self-development if it wasn't killing him. He isn't angry; he even tries to convince himself he's relieved, and, as usual, everyone buys it. Even Justin. Talk about being one's own worst enemy.

It’s something they never lost, this deep fucking connection. It makes Brian alternately want to rip his own heart out in the hope that this way he’ll be rid of it, while also wanting to hold on to it with everything he has.

Summary
When I started my post-S5 fic, Homecoming, I came to the conclusion that it just wasn't possible to write about the characters as they were depicted in canon S5. I hated that whole series (well, except for a few scenes) with a deep and abiding passion. Even now, just on ten years later, just thinking about it infuriates me.
So ... that was the genesis of Reverberations.
It's basically a re-write of canon S5, focusing primarily of course, on Brian and Justin.
