It’s because Sokka turned his life upside down to live in Caldera, but Zuko never once considered moving South. It’s because when they got together, Sokka’s job was to be hot and smart and funny, and then he got fat and stupid and sad. It’s because Zuko was broken but now he’s fixed and he doesn’t need Sokka anymore. It’s because Zuko set the rug on fire when he was angry and yes it was only one time and yes it was three months ago, but Sokka still thinks of it every time they argue. It’s because Sokka is so, very small and Zuko is the fucking sun. “I…I don’t know,” Sokka finishes weakly.
“We grew apart,” Sokka lies.
