He felt her lean back in his lap, voice lifting to her regular volume, making space for him to find his reflection in the vanity behind her.
His eyes opened slowly.
“I look…” Absentmindedly, he relinquished his hold on one of her sides, gloved hands lifting to prod as the underside of his eye, watching with twisting lips and an arching brow at the slight pull at his skin served only to make the shimmering pinks of his eyelids glitter more. “Stupid.”
