Through all her time here she had never once seen anyone sitting there for Scott. She’d heard him mention an aunt once but had never seen her use the seats.
She knew the empty seats weighed on Scott. He kept paying to reserve them despite never actually using them. Maybe he hoped someone would show.
She tried hard to cheer for Scott during games as well as Greg. It had helped when Luke decided he wanted to wear Uncle Scott’s jersey to games instead of his dads. Greg was slightly jealous but when Scott saw Luke in it it was the first time Laura had seen Scott smile. Not one of those fake smiles for the camera, but a real smile.
That was why she was surprised to find two people sitting in Scott’s seats when she got there.

Kip grabs Scott's thigh as he watches Shane lick his lips before tucking his smile back between his teeth. Rozanov meets Shane's eyes from across the room, heated and promising something. Kip feels crazy looking at it being reminded of the tension of their face offs. Shane's eyes drop back to the bland chicken on his plate, and Kip is ready to write this off as a figment of his imagination, when Rozanov catches his eye now and winks.
Scott is going to have five tiny bruises on his thigh. But that doesn't seem to bother him. "Everything okay?"

Because now Scott had months worth of potential date ideas to surprise Kip with. Although he'd have to be careful about it. Subtle. Not just go down the list of items that Kip had so carefully written out, likely having selected each idea from his brilliant mind over the past three years, since a blue and a black pen had been used, and the paper was stained in more than one spot.
