Challenges became part of their routine almost immediately after Yoru joined the Valorant Protocol. But later they decided to put an additional rule to their challenges - whoever loses has to bottom for the winner.
It was a cute little rule Phoenix didn't even remember them setting. Have they been drunk? Was he the one who suggested it? He couldn't remember, but he didn't mind at all. But what he minded was Yoru winning every of their competitions. Every. Single. One. He was the number one at everything they competed in.
Phoenix didn't mind. Honestly. Losing to Yoru was rewarding even. But he still was determined to win.
And he won, showing Yoru the beauty of losing.

Valentine's Day.
A holiday Yoru couldn't get behind.Everything about it felt stupid, and yet he decided to be stupid this year as well, finally confessing to Phoenix with a little bouquet of blue-purplish and orange flowers.
He himself didn't expect to use this specific day to confess, but honestly, thinking back to it, it felt like the least surprising thing this day had in store for him.OR

Summary
"With great power comes great responsibility", right? It also comes with a lot of side effects, leaving one considering using the given power after all, and sometimes the price is too much to bear one wishes the power gone.
But if they would get the chance to give up their power for some peace, would they do it? Probably not. It still doesn't stop hurting to see the person you love the most in this world suffer from the gift of the powers the First Light granted them.A mission goes wrong and Gekko gets pulled into Iso's ult instead of Iso and Yoru jumps into the rift without a second thought just to save Gekko. To their horror Gekko experiences the side effects of Iso's radiant powers now.
While Iso helps Gekko to get through it, Yoru and Phoenix face the familiar routine of Yoru's side effects. And while it's familiar it's not pretty.
But that's just the price of greatness, of power, of being closer to gods, right?
It doesn't make it easier to face pain though. Especially when it's the person you love the most who is suffering.
Phoenix does his best though to make Yoru feel better.Series
