Shane's first mistake was going to talk to Ilya Rozanov before their game. His second was immediately, stupidly, meeting the eyes of Rozanov’s very much dead mother hovering at his side.

Summary
"Now," the announcer says, "Let’s head over to the recap of Women’s Figure Skating, where the nineteen-year-old from the United States was able to snatch the gold in a stunning upset from the frontrunner, Russian Individual Neutral Athlete, eighteen-year-old Irina Rosanov.”
And there she is, in a pink rhinestoned costume, gargling water and spitting it out of perfectly painted lips. Hands on hips, taking deep breaths before skating out onto the ice.
Shane’s hand is immediately on the remote, moving to change the channel.
“It’s fine,” Ilya says, “Want to see.”
He tries not to keep track of her career, but when it's playing on the screen like this, it's hard to look away. She is the spitting image of his mother, curly blonde hair, lithe frame, piercing blue eyes. She is her namesake. And he doesn’t know her at all.
-
Or, Ilya's niece receives her trust fund. She comes looking for answers (and finds a home, while she's at it).

Summary
-----
Ilya has been thinking about his mother again. Not that he ever really stops but lately...Yes, lately he is thinking about Irina Rozanova but also about Irina Sokolova. About Irina before Alexei or Ilya. Before Grigori Rozanov. Irina Sokolova - the champion figure skater. The world championship title she won. The routine she developed and agonised over and perfected but never took to the Olympics. And he has been doing something stupid. Something he absolutely should not be doing. But he is one year away from reaching an age his mother never got to see and he needs...something. He’s pretty sure it’s this particular something.
But Dr. Galina has been implying that perhaps it is only stupid in the way that falling in love with your arch-rival is stupid. So maybe he should just give up already and get on with it.

Summary
Shane’s phone begins vibrating. When he looks, they both see it’s a FaceTime call from Ilya.
“You’re killing me, Hollander.” Rose says, “I’m trying to wallow about being single.”
“Sorry. Just a sec, promise.”
“Nothing can stop the first husbands of hockey.”
Shane rolls his eyes but then snaps his thumb across his screen to answer.
“Back at your hotel?” Ilya asks, nearly mid-sentence.
“No, I’m still here with Rose.”
“Is that new shirt? The color is good. You look hot.”Rose grinds her teeth. She loves Shane and Ilya together. They are adorably obsessed with each other, like coyotes in heat or something, even after all these years. But she hadn’t felt this single in a long time.

OR
Rose Landry is so single that Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov make a bet to see who can set her up with a boyfriend first.
But maybe a boyfriend isn’t what Rose needs.
